Comic Blade site updated

Comic Blade finally has the current issue listed on its site (the one with the Aria cover). I'm going to LA for Anime Expo next month, and my 2 main goals are:
1) Get that issue of Comic Blade
2) Shake down any ADV executives I see for info about vol 4
3) Look for info on the anime

I'm beginning to wonder if the Aria anime will debut this summer. I didn't see anything about it at the Tokyo Anime Fair, and I was looking. Two months between the announcement and debut seems really short. Then again, the Tsubasa Chronicle anime was formally announced only a couple months before its debut, and nobody seemed to know before then that it was even in production. (The downside is that the Tsubasa anime is really not that great...XD)

more on Aria omake!

Sasuga brought some Japanese Aria volumes to their booth at Katsucon, so I stole a quick glance under the dustjackets. As suspected, there are little 4-panel omake there, that I hadn't seen in the English-language editions. I'm going to wait till I go to Tokyo next month to get them (hopefully Mandarake in Nakano will have them so I don't have to pay full price.XD)

omake da!

I checked under the dust jackets of my two AQUA manga to see if there was anything special. (you never know....) And there was! Each one has a little 4-panel extra comic on the front cover with the characters in chibi. Silly little vignettes, but very cute. Now I wonder if ARIA has them too.

seeking evidence

I've been all over the Mag Garden site looking for news about the alleged Aria anime, but the only anime they're talking about are Elementar Gerard and Jinki Extend (and PMK and tactics... ad infinitum...^^;). Google doesn't turn up any results either. I wonder if, as in the initial Tsubasa anime mix-up, there might have been a mistranslation somewhere. (But OTOH, the Tsubasa anime WAS finally confirmed later.:D) The fact that Amano-sensei says nothing on her site is rather worrying, though. She does have release dates for the two new drama CDs coming out next year. Ganbatte kudasai Amano-sensei!

aria vol 3 cover error?

I happened to line up all 3 of my (English) Aria volumes last night, and noticed that the spine picture for vol 3 was the same as the one for vol 2. I'm just speculating, but this MIGHT account for the scarcity of vol 3 in brick & mortar stores.

No word yet on when vol 4 will be out. ADV Manga is apparently not releasing anything in December and January, according to their own site.

ADV Manga's long holiday break

So... no ADV Manga releases at all from December 04 through January 05, huh? guess the whole manga staff must be out picketing Comcast or something.XD

Whatever the bug is, they'd better fix it soon.

mondo release schedules

Finally! I found a comprehensive release schedule thingy on Anime News Network. Best of all it shows all upcoming manga releases from all companies in one place.

I'd been looking for something like this for a long time, and was beginning to fear that I would have to make it myself. ^^; Yay ANN!

Finally!!! ADV Manga release updates

I wasn't planning on updating this blog again until I'd moved to Movable Type, but this momentous occasion (and stupid !*@#$!!) template! problems) compelled me to blog. ADV Manga has FINALLY updated their home page with releases, AND more importantly, release DATES, through the end of November.

After a long long LONG wait, Chrno - sorry, CHRONO Crusade finally starts coming out at a faster clip (vol 2 on Oct 4, vol 3 Nov 30). Not bad considering the first volume was released in frickin' MAY.

Aria vol 3 comes out November 23. Yay for it coming out at all, at the long wait since vol 2 (released in JULY). No date scheduled for vol 4.

There's more Full Metal Panic!? Oh my poor wallet...

Also of interest on October 4: Sakura Kinoshita's Tactics ... and MATANTEI LOKI RAGNAROK!!! AAAAA!!!!

(on a purely technical note, ADV appears to have dropped the ADVManga.com URL - it automatically redirects to ADVfilms.com/manga.asp. Hmmm.)

Aria #2

The more I read of life on Neo-Venezia, the more I want to move there.

Hmmm...does Akatsuki like Akari?
